A US size 9 in Timberland steel toe boots does not mean that you are US size 9 in CAT. A US size 10 in adidas sports shoes is definitely different from a US size 10 Bates safety shoes.
Understanding that a good fit is one of the most important thing in purchasing shoes and multiple cross referencing, we came up with TWO size conversion methods for you to bring the best fit pair of KTG safety shoes home with confidence.
Method 1: Feet Measurement
Step 1) Place your heel against a wall
Step 2) Measure from the wall to the edge of your longest toe (usually your first or second toe), the measurement tape should be following the side of your foot.
Step 3) Record the measurement
Step 4) Repeat step 1-3 for another 2 times and get the average measurement. Add an additional 5 mm to the average and you will get your foot length! This additional 5 mm is to allow for swelling of feet during work.
Step 5) Select your size from our size chart (an example is shown below) provided with each model of our shoes.
Scenario illustration 1 (measuring tape):
Assume that the average length obtained from step 4 was 264 mm, adding 5 mm will be 269 mm.
As we have gotten 269 mm as measurement, we should select 270 mm. From the chart above, your shoes size should be size 43, UK 9 and US 10.
Method 2: Direct conversion method
*This method works best for sizes below US11/UK10. We noticed that for sizes beyond US11/UK10, brands have drastically different size measurements.
Step 1) Obtain the US or UK size of your best fit sports shoes or safety/leather shoes
Step 2) As safety/leather shoes are typically 1 size larger than sports shoes, if you are using sports shoes as reference, take 1 size smaller. Safety/leather shoes size can be directly converted.
Step 3) Optional: As the direct conversion method offers a very good fit for your feet, if you have large or wide feet or prefer some room in your shoes, take 1 size larger.
Step 4) Select your size from our size chart (an example is shown below) provided with each model of our shoes.
Scenario illustration 2 (reference from safety shoes):
Assume that your usual safety/leather shoes is US 9, you will be taking size 42, which is US 9. If you have wide or thick feet or prefer to have some room to your feet, you will want to take size 43 instead.
Scenario illustration 3 (reference from sports shoes):
Assume that your usual sports shoes is US 9, you will be taking size 41, which is US 8. If you have wide or thick feet or prefer to have some room to your feet, you will be taking size 42 instead.
